21 Days of Oscar – In appreciation of Quentin Tarantino

Ah, Quentin Tarantino, what a bizarre, crazy, wonderful man you are. Few men know as much about films as Quentin does and few directors have helped breath new life into Hollywood than he has. This year he is nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Inglourious Basterds. All in all Inglourious Basterds has 8 nominations including Best Picture. In 1994 Pulp Fiction was also nominated for Best Picture but lost out to Forrest Gump. Ultimately he did win for Best Original Screenplay though. What amazes me about Quentin is his ability to write ingenious dialogue, come up with gorgeous cinematography and still have the ability to bring forth amazing performances from his actors. Few people have been able to make violence quite so beautiful, funny and disturbing. It’s highly unlikely that he will win for Best Picture or Best Director this year but that’s okay, Quentin will always be a rebel and for the Academy to recognize his talent it might just be enough. Here are some brilliant scenes from his films.
